The procedure regulates the manner of registering mentions regarding the recording of the surname/first name with the orthography of the mother tongue.

The person whose surname or first name was recorded in civil status documents translated into a language other than their mother tongue or with the orthography of another language may request the registration – by mention in the margin of these documents – of the surname or first name retranslated or with the orthography of the mother tongue, both in the sections regarding the holder and those referring to their parents.

The application is submitted to the S.P.C.L.E.P. or, as the case may be, to the town hall of the administrative-territorial unit of residence or directly to the S.P.C.L.E.P. or, as the case may be, at the headquarters of the town hall which holds the civil status document.
