In order to encourage school attendance, in 2002 the School Supplies Program was launched, which is aimed at students in public primary and lower secondary education, day courses. At the start of each school year, packages with school supplies specific to each class are distributed.
The composition of the school supply packages provided to students is established based on the Methodology for the application of the provisions of Law no. 126/2002 for the approval of Government Emergency Ordinance no. 33/2001 regarding the provision of school supplies.
Funding application submitted by the Ministry of National Education at the beginning of September 2017, through the Operational Program Assistance for Disadvantaged Persons (POAD) 2014-2020, was approved. The decision allows, starting with this school year, the purchase of supplies for preschoolers, and the addition of backpacks to the supply packages given to students in the primary and lower secondary cycles.
