The professional foster assistant - is the natural person, certified under the conditions of Government Decision no. 679/2003 regarding the conditions for obtaining certification, the procedures of certification and the status of the professional foster assistant, who ensures through their activity at their home the upbringing, care, and education necessary for the harmonious development of the children placed in their foster care.
The purpose of the working procedure is to establish a unified and common methodological framework for specialists within the Case Management Department for Foster Care Assistants, who interact with the professional foster assistants and the children for whom a special protection measure has been instituted; for these children, the aim is to provide upbringing, care, and education, in order to ensure an emotional, secure climate necessary for their harmonious development.

How can you become a professional foster assistant?
Persons residing in Bihor County interested in becoming a professional foster assistant should contact DGASPC Bihor, where they will submit a request for evaluation. The request will include the applicant's curriculum vitae as well as the reasons for wanting to become a foster assistant. Supporting documents (copies of civil status documents and education certificates, criminal record) shall be attached to the evaluation request. After submitting the evaluation request, the applicant's ability to care for children will be assessed. The certificate of professional foster assistant is issued for a period of 3 years.
