In the field of sports, the merit allowance is granted to persons who have achieved outstanding results or have directly contributed to obtaining them and who belong to the following categories:
a) athletes;
b) coaches;
c) medical staff and researchers;
d) referees;
e) other personalities who participated in special external actions promoting the image of Romania.
The merit allowance is granted to individuals nominated by the National Commission for Granting the Merit Allowance, based on the award criteria set out in these implementing rules of the law. The merit allowance can be granted to individuals who have reached the age of 60.
